Listening to Dr. Jane Goodlall on Mrs. Green’s World podcast inspired me like no other podcast this week.

(A list of my go-to podcast’s are at the end of this post.)

But Jane Goodall? What a classic! And who better to interview her than one of my favorite Mother Earth advocates, Gina Murphy-Darling, aka Mrs. Green, “We don’t tell you what to think, we just want you to.” A woman I’m proud to call my friend.

So much good is going on in this podcast. But about three-quarters of the way through the interview, Mrs. Green asked, “Jane, what inspires you?”

I think I stopped slouching over my keyboard for this one.

I’m paraphrasing here, but, here are the four things that give Jane Goodall hope:

  1. Evidence that empowering our youth to take action works.
  2. Our brains.
  3. The resiliency of nature.
  4. The human spirit, with a nod to Rachel Carson.

Simple.

Powerful.

Eloquent.

But beyond that and on a much simpler level, Jane’s gentle but strong message just made me feel good.

There is plenty of we don’t know about the future. Plenty of things going awry in this world. But Dr. Jane Goodall’s simple message offers the kind of reassurance we could all use a little more of these days.

I hope you listen to her entire message so you can feel good too.

Who or what inspires you? Need some ideas?
